Tank tops and flip flops

I love the hot weather, I love swimming, and any kind of activity that calls for tank tops, shorts, and flip flops are my thing. I never imagined that I'd be raising my family in an inland state with no mountains, but alas we have lakes! Glorious, glorious fresh water lakes.

Birthdays Birthdays All Around

Apparently spring is birthing season in the Grimes household! Eden's birthday is in March followed a month later by Adele's, then mine, and finally Noah's, which is today. Not to mention both Pete's parents, Dan and Nancy, Pete's sister Rachel, our little niece Megan birthdays, as well as both Mother's and Father's day all fall between the months of March and June! I'm exhausted just typing it all out! I feel horrible that I failed to blog about Eden's birthday, which was basically a small affair with family, but it got lost in the hubbub of a particulary busy spring. And late last night as Pete and I were falling asleep exhausted from a long day, we both looked at each other and said "tomorrow's Noah's birthday!" Ugh we hadn't planned a thing. Oh well there's always next year. Here are some pics of the kids birthday celebrations.

All Smiles

Adele has been smiling, cooing, and laughing for weeks now but as soon as I pull out the camera I  get nothing but frowns and awkward stares.  Well, I finally captured her on video last night smiling away!

Frozen Banana Kabobs

Eden and Noah love bananas so I tried what I thought was a fabulous idea. I kabobbed a few bananas, dipped them in some yogurt, and rolled in granola and chocolate chips. I then placed the banana kabobs on some wax paper and froze for about an hour. Voila, frozen banana kabobs, fantastic! Except the kids didn't really get it! Noah just stared at his before declaring he was all done and Eden just licked the outside like a popsicle. Oh well, it was worth a try. My next summer-time snack idea: fruit and cheese kabobs. Hmmm, I'm sensing a food-on-a-stick theme.
